Perfectly Minted.

August 18, 2008

If you are a lover of fine papers and custom invitations like us (and you don’t live under a rock), you have most likely been hearing a lot of buzz about Minted recently. We are thrilled and honored that Louella Press is one of the brands being offered by Minted, among such great company as Egg Press, Mr. Boddington’s Studio, and Wiley Valentine, to name a few. Ordering your dream invitations online has never been so easy!

Minted is still growing and getting set up with all of the amazing invitation suites available from its brands, but until then you can call 888.828.MINT to order any Louella invitation your heart desires, including our newest engraved design, Modern Meadow, which is available exclusively through Minted.

National Stationery Show 2008 – part 2

July 2, 2008

I promised in part one of my NSS coverage to fill you in on the exciting new designs that we introduced this year… well, better late than never!

This year we challenged ourselves to create new designs that are unmistakably Louella; the kind of designs that people will see and think “what a cool design!” but also immediately think of Louella Press. Each line is individually unique, but our bold designs tie everything together to create a collection that we are extremely proud of.

First up are our Black and White thank you cards (click on any image to view larger):

We love how these four designs connect as a set, but also each stand out with their own individual flair. The plaid may be something more for the preppier type, whereas the damask may appeal to someone with a taste for more vintage-meets-modern items.

We also introduced our Cool Grey birthday cards, each of which has a bold color paired with cool grey:

My personal fave is the clementine and grey, which reminds me of a peacock but with a colorful twist!

Next up are our Bold Tidings holiday ornaments:

We are absolutely enamored with the fun patterns and punchy colors of this set! My favorite is the green and gray flowers…. can you tell that I’m really loving gray these days?

For the person who likes the idea of our ornaments but wants something a little more classic, how about something from our Vintage Sparkle line?

To coordinate with both sets of ornaments, we thought adding some new folded gift tags into the mix would be fun for people who want to coordinate everything during the holiday season:

Finally, to top off a great batch of designs, we added a few new gems to our Occasion Cards:

We’re looking forward to getting our online shop updated soon to offer some of our fun new cards to the general public. Before we know it, we’re going to be designing next year’s collection!

National Stationery Show 2008 – part 1

June 14, 2008

Okay, so we’re a little behind in posting about our recent jaunt to NYC for the National Stationery Show! We’ve been pretty busy here on Louella Court since wedding season is now in full-swing and we have some cool new projects in the works. Two Paperdolls and Louella Press are constantly undergoing changes and improvements, and the excitement going on around here this time of the year certainly keeps us on our toes!

We’ll tell you about some of our exciting new projects soon, but for now, let’s go back a few weeks to the NSS, shall we?

This was the third show for the ladies of Louella Press, but as the newbie around here it was my first time attending the show as a part of Louella (and actually, my first time altogether). Walking into the Javits Center for the first time was certainly overwhelming. It is so massive! When people told me that it takes days to really be able to walk through the show and see every single booth, they weren’t kidding.

Our friends from Evantine Design made our booth design become a reality. Basically, this is what it looked like on day one of set-up:

After a lot of hard work building and setting up, we were pretty excited with the final result (click on any image to see it full-size):

The bright orange carpet may not have been our first choice had it all been up to us 😉

We love how the bar turned out!

Our engraved Invitation wall shows just a handful of the unique color combinations that our clients came up with over the last year. It’s always a thrill to see how the look of one of our designs completely changes when our clients put their own color twist on things.

The press kit ladies all dressed up and ready to go!

After everything was all set up on Saturday afternoon, Vanessa went to SoHo to do some shopping while Maggie, Rachel, Cat and I went to Dos Caminos to celebrate — with free Margaritas!

Stay tuned for part 2 to see what fabulous (we think so!) new products we introduced at the show this year.

Custom design tips on Style Me Pretty

June 5, 2008

While we love the idea of working with a custom invitation designer, we also realize what a daunting task this can be for a bride and groom. We’ve compiled a few tips for making the process a bit easier, and you can find them in a two part guest post over at one of our very favorite wedding blogs, Style Me Pretty! The tips are being posted in two parts, check out part two here.

What a nice thing to say!

We’re blushing a little. Thank you Philly Mag for your kind words! We’re also excited to have our online store up-and-running.

When Work and Life Meet

March 28, 2008

When you work in the wedding industry, it is easy to get caught up in all of the amazing possibilities when it comes to your own wedding. I have been no exception while planning my September wedding! I am surrounded by so much amazing design and such beautiful paper all day long that I just couldn’t avoid the temptation and allure when it came to my save the dates.

Designing for a client is so different than designing for yourself; a client will help to guide you throughout the process, telling you what they like, what they don’t like, and what they’re envisioning. When you’re designing for yourself, sometimes it’s hard to figure out where exactly to begin because there is no one guiding you except, well, you!

It took some time, but I finally figured out a design that I was really happy with, and I set to work printing and assembling everything over a period of two weeks. It’s been great to hear positive feedback from our wedding guests since these have gone out in the mail!

I printed the CDs using my fabulous Print Gocco, and they came out beautifully! I’m not a Gocco master yet, but I think they’re pretty good for only my second time Gocco-ing. Besides, the result is much better than a sticker label 🙂

Next hurdle: invitations!

Dolls in the Little Black Book

March 10, 2008

LBB Header

We’re excited and flattered to announce our placement on Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book, the Philadelphia edition. If you’ve read our recent posts, you might have guessed that we love the chance to collaborate with our creative friends in the wedding and design business. Having been early fans of the Abby Jean wedding line (we carry her letterpress invitation album in our studio) we were thrilled when Abby launched Style Me Pretty, and we’re always delighted when our work makes an appearance.
Thanks again Abby, we’re looking forward to meeting new friends through the Little Black Book!

Good luck!

A Perfect Thanks!

February 25, 2008

We wanted to give a very big thank you to Anne over at Perfect Bound for her lovely post on Louella Press and Two Paperdolls. We had a lot of fun with the Q&A, and we were delighted to be able to talk about some of the differences between letterpress and engraving, and what makes each unique.
